Why November is a Great Month to Visit San Antonio

Why November is a Great Month to Visit San Antonio

While San Antonio is great to visit any time of year, November is an especially great month to visit. First of all, the weather is fantastic. Unlike most of the country which tends to turn cold and dreary in November, the temperature in San Antonio generally hovers around 66 degrees, and the chance of rain is less than at other times of the year.

San Antonio also hosts a number of amazing events in November. The month kicks off with Dia de Los Muertos – a Day of the Dead Celebration. This holiday is perfect for anyone who wishes the spooky fun of Halloween would last just a little longer. On November 1st and 2nd, the Dia De Los Muertos Fest will be held at the Arneson River Theater. The festival has a great talent line-up including the Texas Tornadoes and La Santa Cecillia. On the 2nd and 3rd, over at Market Square you’ll be able to view a dancing and drum procession as folks go by dressed up like skeletons. On the evening of the 2nd, you can join (or just come and watch) the 5k Night Run at McAllister Park. In this evening run, racers dress up as skeletons and other dead folk.

On November 2nd and 3rd, San Antonio will be hosting its first Meatopia, a meat lover’s paradise held at The Pearl. On Saturday, for $100 you can enjoy signature drinks and all the steak you can eat for $100 at the Beefsteak event. At the main Meatopia event on Sunday, $75 gets you entry to all kinds of meaty delights prepared by 30 of the top chefs from around the country. You’ll be able to eat all kinds of animals, everything from Beef to Quail and more.

If the 5k Night Run isn’t enough exercise for you, sign up for the San Antonio Rock N’ Roll Marathon. San Antonio’s leg of the “World’s Largest Running Series” takes place on November 17th. Amazing live music is played along the course and the event headliner is multiple Grammy Nominee Joe Nicholas. Proceeds from the race go toward charity, and San Antonio’s preferred charity is the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  In addition to the marathon, the event will also host a half marathon, relay races and a bike race.

If you’ll be visiting San Antonio over Thanksgiving, you can enjoy a festive Thanksgiving meal at Luby’s. The restaurant chain has locations all over the city, and on November 28th, they will be offering a buffet of Roasted Turkey with all the trimmings for only $10.00 per person!

The next day, walk off the calories from your turkey dinner by exploring San Antonio’s famous River Walk. It’s beautiful any time of year, but the day after Thanksgiving, all of the Christmas decorations go up.

Finally, at the very end of the month, Six Flags Fiesta Texas kicks off their Holiday in the Park extravaganza – a month full of Christmas celebrations.

We hope to see you in San Antonio in November! If you need a place to stay, at InTown Suites, we have recently renovated rooms in the city for as little as $209.99 per week!
