Celebrating Mother’s Day at InTown Suites

Celebrating Mother’s Day at InTown Suites

Moms deserve the world. From patching up scratched knees to being your biggest fan, moms everywhere have invested a lot of time and love. This Mother’s Day, why not show her just how much she’s appreciated. Gift giving can be a pricey endeavor, but here at InTown Suites, we believe the best gifts can sometimes be free. Whether you’re celebrating this Mother’s Day at home or at one of InTown’s Extended Stay accommodations, our staff has got a great round up of easy, affordable Mother’s Day gift ideas to show mom just how much you care.

HELP HER OUT
Sometimes the gift of more time—whether that be more time together or just time alone to relax—is the best gift of all. Plan an activity that you both love: go for a walk together, gab over coffee or tea, or make a date to watch your favorite movie/show together at your own home “theater”. Grab some inexpensive bags, classic sodas, candy, and popcorn, and settle in for some quality time with mom.

A mother’s work is never done, but for one day, let her take it easy and put her feet up. While mom is sleeping in, take care of some everyday tasks on her to-do list. Clean the bathroom, mow the lawn, even clean her car or organize a particularly messy area of her home (not that those exist). Anything that lessens her load will be much appreciated. Make mom a meal, refresh her cup of coffee—treat her like the queen she is.

MAKE HER BREAKFAST IN BED
This Mother’s Day gift idea isn’t exactly reinventing the wheel, but why fix what isn’t broken? Nothing is more heartwarming than breakfast in bed prepared by a loved one (just make sure to do the clean-up too)! Taylor J. of our InTown Suites Auburn (YAA) Extended Stay property offers these easy, classic southern recipes to bring a warm homemade touch to your Mother’s Day breakfast. Whip up some delicious Southern Fried Yellow Squash Patties and impress your mom with your culinary skills. Make it a meal with some classic Buttermilk Pancakes and a side of something fresh. This seasonal Strawberry-Rhubarb Salad should do nicely.

GET CRAFTY
With a couple of dollars and some ingenuity, you can give mom something to remember this Mother’s Day by for years to come. Ditch the expensive gift certificates and plan a spa day at home! Draw her a bath, light some candles, and pour mom a glass of her favorite wine or some refreshing cucumber water. You can even prepare your own homemade spa treatments using ingredients from your own pantry, the supermarket, and containers found at your local dollar store. Mom can relax and rejuvenate her tired bones with these elegant, yet affordable Rose Petal Bath Salts and this refreshing Lemon Sugar Scrub.

While at the dollar store, why not pick up some simple ceramics to decorate just for mom. Warm both mom’s heart and hands with a commemorative mug. Nadia S. of our Houston Northwest/Cy-Fair (XHW) Extended Stay property recommends buying a plain mug along with paint and a brush to decorate it. It’s a simple gesture that’s fun for kids and one that Nadia’s mother treasures as a gift from her granddaughter.

Permanent markers are another great way to personalize mugs, or even add artistic flair to a ceramic planter. Ditch the fresh cut flowers for something that will last a bit longer. Simply purchase seeds or small plants/herbs and some potting soil, and present mom with living proof of your love in a unique planter, customized by you. It’s a simple gesture that’ll remind mom how much you care with each new bloom.

Whether on vacation or staying a little longer, our Extended Stay Locations have all the amenities you need to share a simple, homemade Mother’s Day with loved ones.
