Mother’s Day From A Distance

Mother’s Day From A Distance

Under our current living conditions, it’s hard to think of creative ways to celebrate special moments and holidays with our friends and family. Living under stay at home orders certainly throws a wrench in celebrating this coming Mother’s Day with mom or grandma. We’ve come up with a few creative ways to celebrate and appreciate your mom while still social distancing this Mother’s Day.

Send A Video

What better way to send mom an “I love you!” than through video. If you’re an only child, create something fun that will bring a smile to her face Sunday morning. If you have siblings, each of you can take a quick video and then edit them together for one nice digital present for mom. If you’re using an iOS smartphone, iMovie is a free video editing app to help make your Mother’s Day video.

Snail Mail

We are so used to instant gratification that we often forget the simplicity and thoughtfulness a handwritten letter via USPS can bring. Now is the perfect time to sit down and write out a meaningful letter to mom, grandmom, and aunt and let them know how much they mean to you. There is nothing more exciting than receiving a letter from someone you love in your mailbox instead of the usual junk mail or bill.

Care Package

Create a special care package of all your mom’s favorite things and have them delivered to her door! There are a couple of ways you could do this, buy everything for her, and have it shipped to you. Then you can put together a sweet package with everything you’ve purchased and a few handwritten notes and drop it off at her door or stick it in the mail. If you’re looking for something a little more convenient, use the Shipt Delivery app to create a shopping list just for mom and have it delivered at her doorstep–without you having to leave the house!

Personal Parade

Drive-by parades have become more and more popular during this pandemic, and also a super out-of-the-box way to celebrate someone special. Do a solo drive-by with you and your kids and tell grandma to step outside to receive her personal parade. Or get even more creative and create signs or banners you can hang from the car! If you have siblings that live nearby, include them in on your Mother’s day parade.

Meal Delivery

You may not be able to take mom or grandma out for brunch like you originally planned, but that shouldn’t stop you from spoiling her with food from her favorite restaurant. Pre-order your mom’s favorite dishes from her favorite local restaurant and have it delivered to her door. If they don’t offer delivery, pick it up and drop it off to her. Want to enjoy the meal with her? Grab a dish for yourself and have a Houseparty video call and enjoy your special meal together.
