InTown Gives Back: Operation Gratitude

InTown Gives Back: Operation Gratitude

Between the fireworks and parades, the cookouts and bonfires, the fourth of July is a time to relax with family and reflect. Even though it may just seem like hotdogs and sparklers today, in truth, we’re celebrating something bigger: the freedom we all enjoy as Americans thanks to courage and strength of our military. Here at InTown Suites, one way we choose to recognize the efforts of our US service members by giving back through Operation Gratitude.

Operation Gratitude is a non-profit organization that annually sends over 200 thousand care packages filled with food, gifts, handmade items, and personal letters of appreciation to military and first responder communities. The program allows individuals, families, and businesses the opportunity to volunteer their time, all while raising the spirits and meeting the needs of these dedicated men and women.

Last week in the spirit of the Fourth, our corporate office gathered to participate in our Third Annual Operation Gratitude Letter Writing Event. During this gathering, members of the team wrote letters and cards to thank wounded heroes, veterans, recruits and deployed soldiers for their sacrifices.

The letter writing itself is a wonderful experience that allows each volunteer the opportunity to express their gratitude with creative details. Here at InTown, glitter, calligraphy and, artistic prowess was on full display as our crew took the time to decorate their letters over cake, coffee, and many laughs.

It’s just one-way InTown Suites engages with our local communities to give back to those who give so much of themselves every day.

Since its inception, Operation Gratitude has shipped more than 2 million care packages, but the need is growing daily. If you or your business is interested in volunteering your time, fundraising, or donating gifts and supplies to Operation Gratitude, please visit their website operationgratitude.com to explore all the ways you can celebrate our brave military and first responder communities.
