The Denver Zoo is one of a kind with more than 3,600 animals to see and more than 80 acres to explore. Visitors can interact with animals up-close and personal, observe animal demonstrations, experience wildlife hands-on and learn about more than 600 different species from around the world. If you get hungry during your visit, stop by one of the many themed restaurants on-site. Denver Zoo is open in the summer from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Reserved tickets are required; prices start at $20 for adults and $14 for children.

Boulder Creek Festival

Back for Memorial Day, the Boulder Creek Festival is a free, family-friendly event featuring local vendors, food trucks, refreshing brews and live music. The festival will be held May 28th – 30th from noon to 7:00 p.m. each day. Find food, fun and festivities along the Boulder Creek between Arapahoe and Canyon Road in Boulder, CO.

Cherry Creek Arts Festival

The Cherry Creek Arts Festival is all about bringing together the arts community from far and wide and passing inspiration along to others. This year’s festival will include live arts performances, 250 artist exhibitors, culinary demonstrations and kids’ creative activities. Located between 2nd and 3rd Avenues in Cherry Creek, Denver, the festival is scheduled for July 1st – 3rd from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. each day.

Colorado Dragon Boat Festival

After a two-year hiatus, the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival is back! On July 23rd and 24th, head to Sloan’s Lake Park in Denver for two full days of boat races, live performances, an Asian market and local fare. Known as the biggest Dragon Boat Festival in the U.S., this festival has more than 150,000 attendees, 400 volunteers and 180 performers and vendors. Get ready to celebrate Asian and Asian American heritage at this free Denver festival.

See a different side of Denver on an outdoor adventure

Take in the breathtaking views of Denver, Colorado with a kayak or paddleboarding adventure! There are multiple places to rent kayaks and paddleboards by the hour or to find guided tours. Here are a couple of our favorites: Denver Outdoor Adventure Company offers scenic kayak and paddleboarding tours starting at $32 per person. Rocky Mountain Paddleboard boasts hourly rentals of kayaks, paddleboards and canoes starting at $25 for the first hour.

Named after Denver’s popular beer, Coors Field is the home turf of Major League Baseball’s Colorado Rockies. With the capacity to hold over 50,000 people, watching a ball game has never been so exciting! Easily purchase single-game tickets online. If you’re not able to make a game, it’s still worthwhile to take a tour of the stadium. Guided tours are offered Monday through Saturday and cost $15 for kids and $17 for adults.

Wander through Washington Park

A favorite for many visitors to Denver, Washington Park is an ever-popular public urban park located just south of central Denver. Home to fascinating displays of historic and contemporary styles of architecture, the Park also features lakes, tennis courts, flower gardens, and more. Pick a sunny morning or afternoon to stroll through the 155-acre park – you’ll be glad you did!

Stop in to learn something new about the natural history of Denver, Colorado, Earth and the universe! Chock-full of exhibitions, programs and activities for all ages, the Denver Museum of Nature & Science houses over one million objects – there is much to be discovered! A few of our favorite exhibits display dinosaur bones, Egyptian mummies and exotic wildlife from around the world. Summer hours at the museum are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tickets start at $15 for kids and $20 for adults, but check out the six free dates between May and September.

Marvel at the Denver Botanic Gardens

A public botanical garden situated in the Cheesman Park neighborhood, the Denver Botanic Gardens are a stunning sight to see, including gorgeous garden displays, outdoor art exhibits, gardening classes and more. Visit one of the two garden locations on York Street in Denver or Chatfield Farms in Littleton. This summer, Music at the Gardens is back with a variety of live musical performances. The UMB Bank Amphitheater will host eight scheduled concerts in June and July and weeknight shows from local musicians will be held at the Hive Garden Bistro and Offshoots Café.
