Fort Worth Museum of Science and History

kids learning at science museum in fort worthIf you and the kids are looking for something fun to do while staying at one of our extended stay hotels in Dallas, TX –you’ve got to see Fort Worth Museum of Science and History!

The museum is home to tons of fun and educational exhibits.  A few of the museum’s permanent exhibits include Children’s Museum, DinoLabs & DinoDig, Grossology, and Cattle Raisers.

The Fort Worth’s Children’s Museum was originally founded in 1941 and was the sole focus of the museum. The Children’s Museum is a place that encourages children from ages 0-8 to come, play and learn. There are many hands-on learning experiences within the Children’s Museum like reptiles and amphibians, water play, daily habits, and more! There are even spaces for infants and toddlers, nursing mothers, and a parent resource room.

The DinoLabs & DinoDig exhibit will transport you back to when dinosaurs walked the earth. There is so much to learn and see with things like DinoGlow, a software that shows you the texture, makeup, and camouflage of all kinds of prehistoric animals. In DinoLabs you’ll be able to look at dinosaur fossils and bones just like scientists do when studying what life was like when dinosaurs ruled. One of the best parts of this exhibit is DinoDig, a replica of a real-life paleontology dig site that you and the kids can take part in!

Grossology is a temporary exhibit and is exactly as it sounds –gross! Learn all about the gross science of the human body, yes we’re talking farts, burps, boogies and more! This exhibit is designed to get all your questions answered about how the human body works with interactive activities like Toot Toot! This exhibit also includes Animal Grossology, so the kids can learn how different animals bodies function as well.

You wouldn’t be in Texas without an exhibit like The Cattle Raisers. Here you will learn all things cattle industry including how cattle raising originated and what it’s like today.

Innovations Studios, Nobel Planetarium, and an Omni Theatre IMAX Dome tickets are also available at this museum. The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History also has an on-site cafe and shopping. So if you happen to get hungry stop by the Stars Café located on the first floor. And if you need to find the perfect souvenir to remember your trip to the museum stop by Shop TOO!
