Ryman Auditorium

Take a step back in time and experience 125-years of history at the Ryman. Believe it or not the idea of Ryman bloomed from a tent revival in the 1800s. After feeling so moved Thomas G. Ryman dedicated his life and wealth to build a place of worship and spirituality. Over the years the Ryman change and grew into one of Nashville’s hot spots for the performing arts. The Ryman hosted acts like Harry Houdini, Charlie Chaplin, Elvis Presley, and Johnny Cash. Hard times fell on the Ryman in the 1970s, facing demolition the building was saved in the nick of time by the city of Nashville. Today it stands tall, freshly renovated and one of music’s most historical sites –it’s the birthplace of bluegrass!

Not just a music venue, the Ryman is open to the public from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM for self-guided, guided, or group tours.

Known as the Mother Church of Country Music, the Ryman Auditorium is one of the most beautiful and treasured landmarks in Nashville.

The Soul of Nashville theatre offers a tour of its 100-seat venue. Explore the magic as you are immersed in a 360 musical history experience. You’ll be amazed as holograms perform onstage and move you with Ryman’s history.
