12 Events to Look Forward to, All Year Long

The New Year is here! What are you looking forward to most in 2015? We’re looking forward to a year filled with fun festivals and events in our favorite parts of the country.

January

Sundance Film Festival – Park City, Utah

Even though the Academy Awards for last year’s films won’t take place for another month, if you attend the Sundance Film Festival, you may be watching some of next year’s nominees. The iconic Sundance Film Festival takes place in Park City, Utah, just outside Salt Lake City. It’s a bucket list festival for any film geek.

Mardi Gras – Mobile, Alabama

Today, many cities around the country celebrate Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday), but Mobile, Alabama has the oldest celebration, with festivities dating back to 1703. Along with being the oldest, Mobile’s Mardi Gras celebration is one of the best, with parades and tons of masked parties leading up to Lent. It’s a party that’s not to be missed!

Cherry Blossom Festival – Macon, Georgia

One of the county’s most beautiful festivals occurs in early spring in Macon, Georgia. Spend a delightful day among the stunning and fragrant cherry blossoms.

Springing the Blues Festival – Jacksonville, Florida

Every year, more than 150,000 people come to the SeaWalk Pavilion in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. Over the course of three days, you’ll hear from more than 20 of the best blue artists in the country. Also, it’s tough to beat the weather in Florida at this time of the year, it’s not too hot and not too cold.

Indianapolis 500 – Indianapolis, Indiana

Every May, Indianapolis is home to one of the world’s most popular races, the Indy 500, which takes place at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The actual race may only be a few hours long, but the city celebrates for two whole weeks,. There are events and parties all over town leading up to race day.

County Music Awards Festival – Nashville, Tennessee

No city does Country Music as well as Nashville, so it’s no surprise that the place goes all out for the Country Music Awards Festival. If you’re in town during CMA week, you’ll likely spot the best and brightest in the country music industry out and about. The festival ends with the Country Music Awards, who will go home a winner this year?

The Fair – St. Louis, Missouri

Celebrate America’s birthday in style at the country’s biggest birthday party in St. Louis, Missouri. Over the long weekend, you’ll be treated to spectacular aerial shows, live music, and of course you can’t forget about the amazing fireworks display!

Lollapalooza – Chicago, Illinois

One of the best parts about attending Lollapalooza is that you never know who may turn up to perform over the course of the three-day festival. The musical performers are always varied, so there’s sure to be something for every taste.

Oktoberfest – Denver, Colorado

Denver’s Oktoberfest is a little slice of Bavaria, right here in the good ole USA. In late September, the city is filled with tons of beer, music, German Food, and lots of family-friendly events too. Be sure to bring your own lederhosen.

Texas State Fair – Dallas, Texas

When you’re in Texas, it’s go big or go home, and it’s go big for their annual State Fair. Every October, thousands of people flock to the fair ground to see live demonstrations, listen to great music, go on crazy thrill rides and eat large quantities of fried food, though not always in that order.

EPCOT Food and Wine Festival – Orlando, Florida

November is one of the best times to visit Disney World. Not only are the crowds nice and light, but there is also tons of delicious food and wine, from all over the world, available to sample at EPCOT.

Holiday Festival of Lights – Charleston, South Carolina

Charleston, South Carolina is home to one of the best Christmas light displays in the Country. In the town, there are over 700 displays with over 2 million lights used! Pack up some thermoses with some delicious hot chocolate and take a drive around the area for a fun date night or family night.
