Top Water Parks to Visit in Florida this Summer

Top Water Parks to Visit in Florida this Summer

It may be mid-August, but one thing’s for sure: summer sure isn’t over yet. There’s still plenty of nice weather and long days left this season, and – if you haven’t already had your fill – plenty of perfect family road trips left to be had.

Some of the best summer vacations are about water – either the beach, the swimming pool, or even a water park. Lucky for you, Florida has ample water parks as well as ample extended stay properties to offer – so take your pick and get out there to enjoy summer while it’s still here!

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon in Orlando.

Located at the Walt Disney World Resort, the Typhoon Lagoon is home to one of the world’s largest outdoor wave pools. Based on the ‘Disney Legend’ of a typhoon that wreaked havoc on a tropical island, the park is full of exciting rides, including the Storm Slides (enclosed slides that send riders downward 5 stories), Gang Plank Falls (a family raft ride), and Mayday Falls (a famous tube slide).

Legoland Florida Resort in Winter Haven.

Offering over 145 acres of theme park fun, this Legoland Resort is the second largest only after that in Windsor in the UK. Here you’ll enjoy a gentle wave pool, the Twin Chasers (two 375-foot water slides), the Duplo Splash Safari (a toddlers’ water play area), and much more.

Rapids Water Park in West Palm Beach.

Located in the West Palm Beach area, the Rapids Water Park features a range of waterslides, a wave pool, a wonderful lazy river, and multiple casual eateries. Be sure to check out the Raging Rapids (a multi-person raft ride), the Pirates Plunge (a body slide ride where you blast through narrow looping and twisting tunnels), and the Old Yellar (an all-time park favorite with 4 spiraling slides).

Adventure Island in Tampa.

Across the street from Busch Gardens, Adventure Island offers acres of water park thrills, including the Caribbean Corkscrew (a 230-foot enclosed water slide), the Wahoo Run (a 600-foot long family water slide that passes through waterfalls), and the Key West Rapids (700-foot long tube slide coursing through gushers, pools, water mines, and more).

Grapeland Water Park in Miami.

Located in Miami, the Grapeland Water Park has many exciting rides and attractions for the whole family, including the Captain’s Lagoon (a large recreation pool), the Buccaneer River Ride (a famous lazy river), and Shipwreck island (the perfect place for toddlers looking to enjoy some shallow waters).
