Things To Do in Denver in the Summer

Most think that Denver, CO is just a place to head to when it’s time to ski and snowboard in the winter months, but it’s actually a great vacation destination during the summer. Beautiful throughout the summer months, Denver’s average temperatures range from the upper 80s during the peak of the day and mid to high 50s in the evenings. We’ve put together a list of things to do in Denver in the summer that are sure to make your vacation a hit!

Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Red Rocks Amphitheatre is a concert venue unlike any other in the world! Enjoy the open sky and gorgeous view as you listen to your favorite musician play into the night. Musicians and bands like The Avett Brothers, Norah Jones, and O.A.R. have taken the stage at Red Rocks. Denver Zoo

The Denver Zoo is one of a kind with over 600 different species for you to see and interact with. Some of its exciting exhibits feature Harmony Hill Bear Habitat, Predator Ridge, and Be a Zookeeper Zone. This zoo also offers Keeper Talks where you can learn all about each animal or group of animals and how they are cared for by the zookeepers. If you get hungry during your visit stop by the on-site Food Truck or one of the many on-site dining options. Denver Zoo is open in the summer from 9 am to 4 pm and tickets are $20 for adults and $14 for children.

Denver Festivals

There’s no shortage of festivals in Denver, CO during the summer! Some come far and wide specifically to visit the summer festivals like Apollopalooza, Colorado Dragon Boat Festival, Buskerfest, and Slow Food Nations.

Apollopalooza

This week-long fest celebrates the first Apollo moon landing and takes place from July 13-20 at the Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum. Come enjoy learning all about space exploration, activities, exhibits, and more

Colorado Dragon Boat Festival

July 27th and 28th head over to Sloan Lake for the 2019 Colorado Dragon Boat Festival. Known as the biggest Dragon Boat Festival in the U.S., this festival has over 120,000 attendees all looking forward to celebrating Asian and Asian American heritage! See the schedule for festival activities.

Kayak

Take in the breathtaking views of Denver, Colorado by kayak! There are multiple places to rent kayaks by the hour or for guided tours.
