Great news for all the Halloween lovers out there: it’s finally the time of year to indulge in spooky activities and see just how much of a scare you can handle. And the ultimate test of wit and tolerance is none other than the highly sought-after Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights in Orlando.
Brace yourselves, as the theme park comes alive with hordes of horrifying mutants, monsters and maniacs. With 25 years of experience to draw from, nobody creates a more nightmarish Halloween event filled with truly original scares and authentic horror movie moments.
Use these helpful tips to get the most out of your Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) experience – if you dare!
Wait times are a serious consideration to make when planning your visit, so plan to arrive earlier in the day. Once darkness falls, lines will be long, and you won’t get a great view of the grounds and attractions. Get there early to scope out the things you want to see, and get in line.
For your planning purposes, keep an eye on the boards throughout the park displaying estimated wait times. View locations here.
Unless you’re a die-hard horror fan, we suggest choosing another date to visit the park either before or after Halloween. On Halloween night, lines and wait times at the park are known to last upwards of 3 hours, which may hinder your overall experience. Go earlier in the season for slightly smaller crowds – and don’t worry, the Halloween spirit will still be alive and well even if you visit on a day other than Halloween.
As HHN is a separately ticketed event, take advantage of online ticket sales, allowing you to pay admission fees in advance of arriving at the park (hopefully saving a little bit of time). There are multiple ticketing options, from a Halloween Horror Nights add-on ticket to your regular daytime pass, Express Passes letting you bypass regular lines at all haunted houses, and the Frequent Fear Pass, offering multiple nights of terror for one price.
Additionally, be sure to bring along extra cash for parking, and expect to pay full price for this.
Visitors should be aware that masks and costumes are not permitted in the park. There will be plenty of these to see at the attractions – just don’t bring your own!
With a little planning, getting into and navigating the park itself can be a breeze. Expect to run into traffic getting into the park. You’ll likely have a little bit of wait-time, especially for parking.
To be as efficient as possible in the park, take a look at the park map ahead of time to get an idea of your must-see attractions, and where they’re located in the park.
Be advised that although there aren’t formal restrictions on visitor age, the event may be too intense for children and is more appropriate for an adult audience. It is not recommended for children under the age of 13.
Halloween Horror Nights is always a blast. Do your research ahead of time to make sure you get the most out of your HHN experience as possible.
